避免孩子在家具上跳跃玩耍，以免损坏家具结构；
不要将家具放在潮湿的地下室或暴晒闷热的楼顶,以免木材遇湿膨胀或爆裂；
忌用水浸和湿布擦胶合板制作的家具，防止夹板散胶或脱胶；
忌用与家具原油漆色泽不同的颜料修补家具，需用同色颜料与油灰拌匀后嵌入家具裂缝堵平，以免留下疤痕；
忌用碱水洗刷家具，或在家具面上放置腐蚀性液体、高浓度的酒精、香蕉水和刚煮沸的开水等东西，以防损坏漆面；
家具表面务必常用干净的软布擦拭去尘，不要用干硬布擦拭，它会把表面擦花，如有污渍，可用湿润的软布沾稀释过的中性清洁剂擦拭或用绘图橡皮擦净。最好定期用专用家具蜡保养，每月一次为宜。（除表面用光亮漆的家具，因为打蜡反而使家具容易积尘）；
家具尽量避免阳光直接照射，以免油漆表面氧化；
家具放置须避开高温、干燥的地方，以防木料开裂变形；
家具表面不宜用重物敲击或直接在其表面切割东西，防止家具表面的损坏，也不可在地面上强行推移家具。
